Happy Father's Day
Hi Friends
Here's a card for Dad's special day. This card will be for my hubby from Bailey =^..^= wif lots of nosebumps and purr-hugs.
Of course, I had to do the Friday Mashup as it is one of my faves and so is Mojo Monday so I combined the two. This weeks' Friday Mashup was to do a masculine card (ok, check) and/or add something non-cardstock that is to be stamped on. While I didn't have the burlap ribbon that I thought I had, I did add lots of texture with twine. I even taught myself how to do a sailor's knot... yay. You can view the instructions for the Mashup here. And, here is the Mojo sketch I used.
And here's my card
I started out by stamping the World Map (SU) on crumb cake and the ship from Open Sea onto whisper white. Then it was time to sponge everything to make it antiquey (new word) :-). I also used the little compass and the anchor (which was fussy cut and then tied on to the twine). Instead of brads along the edge by the anchor, I decided to use my old SU punch that makes the slots ... I can't remember what that one was called but I found it cowering in the corner of a drawer. I also used some antique brass brads around the porthole and the sentiment 'Relax' is from a Popcorn the Bear "Happy Father's Day" set by Crafter's Companion. Inside it says "it's your special day ... Happy Father's Day"
So to sum up...
Materials Used
Stampin' Up - The Open Sea
Stampin' Up - World Map
Chocolate chip, crumb cake, baja breeze, whisper white
Antique brads, household twine (nothin' fancy here)
Baja breeze and midnight muse markers - to play around in the water.
Thanks for visiting my blog... I hope you come back soon ... Bailey always has something planned for me so we can blog all about it. See you soon - have a super Sunday.

Hello Pat. I'm a fellow SU demo and had to comment. This card is a wonderful use of the Open Sea stamp. TFS
ReplyDeletePat, this card caught my eye as soon as I started perusing. Just awesome- I agree with Bernadette, a wonderful use of the Open Sea stamp set. Love the twine embellishment and the porthole. thanks so much for sharing with the Friday Mashup this week:)
ReplyDeletePat, this is a beautiful card. So much thought and detail went into it. I love the sailor's knot!! Great job. Thanks for playing with the Friday Mashup!
ReplyDeleteLove this card I don't have the items you have, but I managed to create a pretty good scrap lift card
ReplyDeleteAwesome nautical card! I love the brown and blue tones, gives it a great old fashioned feel! The porthole is so creative and going the extra step to learn a sailors knot...even better!
ReplyDeleteThanks for playing along with us at The Friday Mashup!
