Chill Day Hedgie

Hi Friends

Do you know why everybody is saying "the holidays.......already"?  It's because it's true! This year has flown by for us and, apparently, for most others too.  So for my October crazy card club I chose to do a cute Christmas card.  It's here, might as well embrace it.

Here it is... It was a fun card to create .. and color .l.. hope you like it too!

Materials used were
Stamps - Penny Black Chill Day, Winter Wonderland (sentiment)
Stampin Up "Christmas Messages" (inside sentiment)
The paper is SU "Nordic Noel" - currently on clearance rack!
SU real red and SU whisper white
The ribbon is SU 1/4" cotton in real red

And the kitty?  That's my Bailey ... my best assistant!

Holidays SAS

Hi Friends

It's starting to seem more and more like the holidays.  Even here in toasty southern California we've had some rain and cooler temperatures... yay!!  Last Saturday I went to my friends SAS where we made cards for the upcoming holidays...

I love this cute Halloween card.  It uses the new woodland embossing folder and the super cute spider web doilies.  They are already cut out for you... so easy!

For this card we used the new stamp set 'Thankful Forest Friends',  the big tree from 'Lovely as a Tree' and the sentiment is from 'For all Things'.

Isn't this pretty?  It uses the new 'Lighthearted Leaves' and the coordinating Leaflets framelits... makes this card so fun and easy

We used some of this darling dsp 'Home for Christmas' and 'Cup of Cheer'.  We also got to play with the new fine tipped glue pen and some dazzling diamonds.  It sparkles!!

This is another new stamp set 'All ye Faithful' which we stamped with silver ink and then heat set with silver embossing powder.  A lovely card.

Love the new 'Embellished Ornaments' bundled with the Delicate Ornament thinlits dies.  All topped off with the bow punch and a sparkly platinum ribbon.

This adorable card uses the new 'Sleigh Ride Edgelits dies'.  These are very delicate and a little tricky but if you use the dryer sheet it is a snap.  Do you remember the sandwich I talked about in an earlier post?  Here it is again.

Starting from the bottom.... magnetic plate, clear plate, dryer sheet, card stock, waxed paper, thinlit or edgelit, and your top clear plate.  It works beautifully!

That's it from me today... stay tuned as more and more holiday cards will be featured.  I'm working on my crazy card for October... which is a pretty cute Christmas card... think hedgehogs!

See you soon... thanks for the visit

Crazy cards for September 2015

Hi Stampers

Today's post is my monthly crazy card entry for September.  After Labor Day I try to do something that is related to the Autumn/Fall season.  As I've gotten older, I find summer to be my least favorite of all the seasons... although here in southern California, we hardly have recognizable seasons.  So I always welcome Autumn hoping to see a red leaf.  But.... while the rest of the country is experiencing crisp Autumn days and fall foliage, we are still sizzling.  Sad, but true.  However, winter is beautiful here and maybe a little frigid elsewhere.

All that preamble is only to convince you that my brain is fried because of the hot weather and not old age. Why do I mention that?  Because I did almost the identical card last year at this time (and I didn't remember that).  All I can say is "Oh Boy", sigh, and shake my head.

Here it is..... (this year's version..... heehee)

I did select a different stamp this year.  My "wheat" is from an old SU set called Pocket Silhouettes.  The sentiment is from Verve's Harvest Blessings and the background smooches/splots are from SU's Gorgeous Grunge and Work of Art.  Washi tape too, of course.

I really want to make some Halloween cards but it's hard to get in the mood when it's 100 degrees out there.  Stay tuned... I may get inspired yet :-)

Thanks for visiting today

August Paper Pumpkin Alternate ideas

Hi Friends

It's hard to believe it's been over a month since I've posted.  We went on vacation to the British Isles with our friends and had a wonderful time.  I'm afraid my little blog took a back seat.  But... we are back, pictures uploaded (but not sorted), caught up with chores and all that happy stuff that one must do to get back into "routine".

So yesterday I played with the August Paper Pumpkin.  I have mentioned before that I share it with a friend and we divide the goodies.  Well, this month there were nine items!  Hard to divide that by two so I let her have two boxes, two gold cards, and one pink... her selection.  I decided yesterday to squeeze more out of my part of the kit so I cut my pink cards in half, the gold card in half and spritzed the flower on my box up a little.  I also prepped some black A2 card bases... then the playing began.

August 2015 Paper Pumpkin Spoiler Alert- Stampin’ Up! Chalk It Up To Love/ www.stampinwithlinda.com:

Here is the original kit ... 3 boxes, 3 gold cards, and 3 pink cards.

And here's what I got out of 3 cards and 1 box

The only thing I did differently to the flower on the box was I smooshed the middle part and added a large pearl.  But the cards each got a personal touch.  I gave my friend most of the stamps from the kit, so I pulled out my Lacy and Lovely stamp set, the 'it's your day' from a previous paper pumpkin kit, my large flower punch, scallop tag punch, bow punch, small flower punches and an envelope from the Veteran's Fund which I had kept since it was bright, shiny gold...I hang on to stuff since "you never know".

This made my little flowers and bows.  I had fun coming up with all these cards ... the pink bow was made from the scrap piece that remained after the large pink flower was popped out.  Here are all the items individually.  Please feel free to copy any that you like ... that's what it's all about.

I hope you've enjoyed this post and gotten some ideas.

July 2015 Paper Pumpkin

Hi Friends

Today I played with my Paper Pumpkin for July and it's one of my favorites.  As I've said before, I share the kit each month with a friend so we each get 4 cards or whatever the project might be.  She will come over and we chat and stamp....mostly chat.  Anyway, she wants to borrow the stamps to finish hers so I thought I'd finish mine so she didn't feel rushed.

I gave her the instructional pamphlet so I came up with alternate ideas.  This first one I made last week when we were stamping together so it copies the intended use.  So cute.

This one is one of the alternate ideas I came up with...

I remembered I had a punch (Stampin Up) from years ago that doesn't get much use and it is just like the little tabs they put in the kit.  I had this green paper on my island so I cut it the same size as the kit size and decided to layer it.  I also put a little washi tape to bring out the green and used my dauber to fancy up the cup.

Next I decided I liked the idea of adding the little flowers to the herbs or whatever is in the cup so I cut them off one of the cups and adhered with a glue dot.  I saw this idea on Pinterest by "Laura's works of Heart".  Thanks Laura... love it!

I liked that one alot so I did another and used the "frame" from the stripe tabs as a background.  I also used an embossing folder to gussy it up a little more.

I had help!!!!

I've learned to work in tiny places

But he's so cute.... and just wants to be with mommy.  We had fun doing these today... can't wait to see what Paper Pumpkin has in store for us next month.

Thanks for visiting

ccc

Hi Friends

Today I'd like to share with you my crazy card club entry for this month.  We were to make a card with a 'different' type of fold and I decided on a "double dutch fold".  Here's how to make it...

The base of the card - cut a piece of cardstock to 9 x 4 3/16
Score at 5 1/2
dutch doors - cut a piece of cardstock to 2 x 8 1/2
score at 2 1/8 and 6 3/8
Now just assemble making sure your doors are straight.  You will only be adhering it to the back of the card... I used fast fuse to make sure it's going to stay put!

Now just decorate to your heart's content

I have cut the kitty out of another piece of whisper white and popped him up over the other.  The little mouse is also stamped on scrap paper, colored with Copics, and fussy cut... popped up, of course. The stamp set is by "There she Goes" called "Cattitude".  It is one of my favorites... makes me smile.  But then I'm a kitty person, as you maybe know. :-)

That's all there is to it and it's a cute card with those little 'doors'... I think!  My DSP is retired Stampin Up (sob) and it's been one of my favorites.

I hope you'll give this fold a try... it's not hard and fun to decorate.

Another Christmas in July

Hi Stampers

I know, Christmas in July?  It wouldn't seem so odd if the weather weren't 100 degrees and humid. The weather we've been having here north of San Diego is very unusual for July. But, enough of that, since I know so many parts of the country are waaaaaay worse off than we are where extreme weather is concerned.  So... on to the cards. I love them all but especially these critters...

This stamp is by High Hopes "Mudzie and Chopper Carolling"  Too cute!

This is a little gift card holder.  The stamp is called "Holiday Mail" by Deep Red

This sharp candy cane card features "Vintage Christmas" by Whimsy Stamps.  I colored all my cards with Copic sketch markers

This card is quite elegant.  The ornament is a die cut by Spellbinders called "Holiday"

Hard to decide if this is my favorite or the moose??? I  love them both!  This is a stamp by Whimsy Stamps called "Penguin Oops" (***love that***).  Think his tongue is stuck?

I took this photo to show that the card is put together a little differently.  You can see there is a gap ... makes the card more interesting, I think.

And here is a close up of these cuties.

So that's about it for today... I hope these cards have brought a smile for you today!!!  Thanks for dropping by....
