New Catalog SAS

Hi Everyone

Last Saturday my friend and I went to a fabulous SAS featuring all new product from Stampin' Up's new catalog.  I still need to put some finishing touches on a couple of them but here are the ones I completed.  Love that we used the sets to pretty up the insides too.

This one is from Butterfly Basics - not new, but always classic!  This is the new color "Delightful Dijon".  Still not sure about this color ... but I do like this card.

This one is a 'pull out' card within a card.  The front is attached at the sides, forming a pocket.  The set is 'Build a Birthday'... a really versatile set

I think this one is my favorite.  It uses 'Sprinkles of Life'.  My last blog used the cupcake from this set... now it is punched out as a cloud instead of frosting... love it!!!  The sunburst inside is from 'Kinda Eclectic'.  The camera didn't pick it up but the lettering and edges of the cloud are embossed with silver.  Too bad it really doesn't show  =(  sorry.

For this card we used the 'Hello You' thinlits and then stamped 'Painted Petals' in plum to create our background.  It is matted on 'perfect plum' as well.

This next card uses 'World of Dreams' for the front part and sentiment and 'Serene Silhouettes' create the birds on the branch inside.

I'll finish this post by saying................

So happy you took the time to stop by...  enjoy your day.

Stormy winter night

Hi friends

Did you think I'd fallen in a hole?  Well, no, but it seems at this time of year I get all inspired for the changing season and take on a multitude of tasks... keeps me busy.  Of course, here in southern California Mr Sunshine, and his first cousin, Mr. Heat Wave, always stubbornly hang on until mid October when they've definitely worn out their welcome!  However, they messed up a week ago and our weather was (somewhat) fall-like, which prompted me to get energetic and clean out closets and cabinets and get ready for the holidays.  Today seems cooler and I have my decorations ready to be put out!

Meanwhile, here is a card I made last week using the Crayon Resist Technique.  I was prowling around various blogs and found this technique video by Connie Stewart and had to try it.  Click here to watch her YouTube video.  She makes it so easy.  Here are some cards I did using Serene Silhouettes ... I don't have the White Christmas set that she used.

It's a very simple technique.  Just stamp on your main image in black (I used Memento Tuxedo Black) and then color in your snow using a white crayon...wherever you think it might collect on the branches.   For your moon, you are going to punch out a hole in a post-it note sheet (include some of the sticky) and use the large piece as a stencil for the moon.  Stamp it off  and then cover it back up before you apply your background.  I used a large dauber and Midnight Muse to create my stormy background ... be careful not to rub too hard as you are applying your background.  Once you're satisfied with your sky and have allowed the ink to set, rub off your crayon and watch your "snow" appear on the branches.  I used my White pen from Stampin Up to dot on my falling snow.

Here's Connie's card

and here's a quickie card I did yesterday when demonstrating for a friend but didn't bother with the moon.  I like it better with the moon... seems to add a bit more depth and dimension.  With an orange moon and a few witches flying about, this would make for a pretty cool Halloween card too.  Endless possibilities ;-)

Ok, that's about it for today... give this technique a try... it's really fun!

Thanks for dropping by...
