Silly Olivia

Hi Friends

Today I want to introduce you to Olivia!  Yep, that's what I named her.... Olivia Ostrich.  I went over to the Friday Mashup today to see what challenge was posted, and, lo and behold, punch art!!!  I just commented in a recent blog that punch art was going to be a trend for awhile.  So I just had to play.  I wish I could say Olivia was an original, but I saw a similar Ostrich on pinterest which gave me my inspiration.

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  • Create a project with "Pom Poms".
  • Create a project with "Punch Art:.
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "Punch Art project with Pom Poms on it".
Check out the great inspiration from the Design Team HERE.. So many great ideas using this challenge!

I had intended to place pom poms on her, but it just didn't work out.  Olivia is done in Very Vanilla (although she looks white in the picture) and any pom poms I had were bright white... not good.  But I fulfilled the "punch art" part of the challenge.  Here she is.....

and here are the punches I used.  Not pictured... SU's new Fringe Scissors.

I sponged all her "pieces and parts" with crumb cake and her face with calypso coral... other than that it was just a question of punching, experimenting, sketching some details and putting her together.  I hope you like her.... she makes me smile.  Silly girl.

Thanks for stopping by

Punch Art

Hello my friends...

We are back from our vacation to the Alps and (somewhat) back to normal.  I hope you've been enjoying the blogs I prepared for delayed posting during our time away.  I am planning to begin daily postings of our travels on a day by day basis but between the two of us we took over 1000 pictures - some good, some really good, and some, well, not so good - I think it may take some time for me to weed through the pictures and notes so it may be next week before I am prepared enough to post a sampling of our trip.  We started in Munich, Germany and from there went to Austria, Italy, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.  But more on that later.

During the time I was gone, Stampin' Up had their annual convention in Salt Lake City and I'm sure it was lots of fun.  From what I can glean from other demonstrators, there will be more "punch art" in our futures. That pleases me ... I love punches and am always amazed at the creations people come up with.  Here is a sample of how to use some of the following punches....

Punches used are from pages 219 - 223: Blossom Punch #125603, Pansy punch #130698, Bird Builder (leaves & snail) #117191, 1/2" Circle #119869, 3/4" circle #119873. 1" circle #119868, 1-1/4" circle #119861, 1-3/8" circle #119860

Isn't this cute?  I adore the little snail made with all the circle punches and the bird punch.  Can't wait to try this out.  Here's another picture that was apparently a display at Convention.  Fun, fun!!

Time for me to go play around with my trip photos... stay tuned... and wish me luck... lottsa pix!
