Crazy Card Club for April
I hope you're enjoying all the good deals going on at Stampin' Up. I looked for updates on sold out items but did not see a post. I do know, however, from personal experience, that the retiring dazzling diamonds have sold out...as has the raspberry ripple refill (already posted) I was surprised to see the dazzling diamonds on the retiring list as I thought it was an SU staple. Perhaps they'll be offering something similar in the new annual catalog.
Meanwhile, card making marches on. This month for the 'crazies' I decided to try a technique I first saw Sandi MacIver do on You Tube. She used a brayer and a stamp pad to ink one side of an embossing folder. "How fun" I said. But, oops, no brayer. I tried to simulate one with various things and finally just took the stamp pad to one side of my folder. The result was somewhat "shabby chic" and I liked it - so I decided the entire card would be shabby. Using my new handy-dandy distressing tool from Stampin Up I proceeded to rough up all the edges. I used smoky slate as the background card stock and pink pirouette ink on the folder. I stamped the Pleasant Poppies with Memento tuxedo black and colored them with my copics. The happy birthday is from Itty Bitty Banners and the specks are Gorgeous Grunge. I added a few tiny pearls here and there ... done.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention... I used white seam binding ribbon and dyed it in a wash of basic black, let it dry and pressed it smooth. It is now pretty close to a pale grey. Yes, ma'm, you read that correctly - I not only dyed the ribbon but ironed it too! I know.... **GASP**. And you thought that steam iron was just a mini-planter... so did I {grin}
That's it for today - I hope you've enjoyed your visit and will return soon.
Until then,
Big Hugs
I
