Anniversary

                                                                      Anniversary

Hi friends...

I thought today I'd share a card I made for some friends for their 60th anniversary!!  Wow... isn't that wonderful?  60 years.  Congratulations to Jo and Bill.

I wanted a fancy and elegant card for them... I know it's fancy but not sure how elegant.  Well, I guess it is.  I used my Spellbinders Resplendent Rectangles for the base and layers of the card which is a cream color (and I don't know what brand as it was one of the few 12 x 12's in my stack.  After folding the paper to 4 1/2 x 6 1/2 I ran it through the big shot with the die placed almost to the top, but not quite.  That allowed the card to still have a 'hinge' at the top.  More layers from the Rectangles were cut out and sponged with Blushing Bride (with the dies still in place).  The center oval is Spellbinders Floral Ovals and I used an old Stampin' Up sentiment 'love' from Wonderful Words (retired).

I added a few rhinestone basic jewels to the corners.  The flowers were from Michaels (I think) and started out white satin.  I wanted them pink so I used the dauber and Blushing Bride to tint them.  Of course I didn't have the right size envelope so SU's envelope maker to the rescue!  I love that tool - so handy.  I lined the envelope too.  I sure hope they like it.

Back soon .... you too?

Until then,

happy stamping!!!

New Camera

                                                                My new camera

Hi friends

The other day I broke down and finally got myself a new camera.  I've been wanting a new DSLR ... yippee ... happy Mommy's Day to me!  I got a Canon EOS Rebel and I absolutely love it.  Whey 'my assistant', Bailey, sees me take it out of it's case he gives me the snake eye.... he knows he's my favorite subject at the moment.   My husband and I are going to go down to Carlsbad in a few days to visit the flower fields so Mr. Bailey will get a break.  I'll have flowers sometime next week to share with you.... and, yes,  more cards too.

I hope you'll enjoy these first efforts of mine - and admire our handsome baby too!

Bailey loves his mouse!

Done with the mouse.... now, let's find some bugs!!!

Nope.... nuttin'

Huntin' "mofs" is hard work!

I'm about "done" posing, mom!

Dat's it.... no more pictures today!!!

Crazy Card Club April 2014

                                               Crazy Card Club for April

I hope you're enjoying all the good deals going on at Stampin' Up.  I looked for updates on sold out items but did not see a post.  I do know, however, from personal experience, that the retiring dazzling diamonds have sold out...as has the raspberry ripple refill (already posted)  I was surprised to see the dazzling diamonds on the retiring list as I thought it was an SU staple.  Perhaps they'll be offering something similar in the new annual catalog.

Meanwhile, card making marches on.  This month for the 'crazies' I decided to try a technique I first saw Sandi MacIver do on You Tube.  She used a brayer and a stamp pad to ink one side of an embossing folder.  "How fun" I said.  But, oops,  no brayer.  I tried to simulate one with various things and finally just took the stamp pad to one side of my folder.  The result was somewhat "shabby chic" and I liked it - so I decided the entire card would be shabby.  Using my new handy-dandy distressing tool from Stampin Up I proceeded to rough up all the edges.  I used smoky slate as the background card stock and pink pirouette ink on the folder.  I stamped the Pleasant Poppies with Memento tuxedo black and colored them with my copics.  The happy birthday is from Itty Bitty Banners and the specks are Gorgeous Grunge.  I added a few tiny pearls here and there ... done.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention... I used white seam binding ribbon and dyed it in a wash of basic black, let it dry and pressed it smooth.  It is now pretty close to a pale grey.  Yes, ma'm, you read that correctly - I not only dyed the ribbon but ironed it too!  I know.... **GASP**.  And you thought that steam iron was just a mini-planter... so did I {grin}

That's it for today - I hope you've enjoyed your visit and will return soon.

Until then,
Big Hugs
I

Happy Easter

                                                         Happy Easter

I want to wish you all a very Happy Easter.  I'm not sure what our activities will entail since we celebrated with family last weekend while at our daughter's house for a birthday/Easter party.  Whatever your plans, I hope it is a perfect day! !!

I thought I'd like to share some card ideas that I've found on Pinterest.  I love the fact that for Easter cards you can get as 'cutesie' as you want or go the elegant route - either way, I love the soft, pastel colors of Springtime, don't you?

handmade Easter card: Lattice work Easter card by cards4joy ... pink and white ... oval window with thin ribbon forming a lattice ... pearls on each crossing ... tulip frame main panel ... gorgeous card!!!

posted by JJ on Splitcoast Stampers.  Lovely card.

By Vicki Burdick. Easter card. Tulip petals were punched out using the wing of the Stampin' Up Bird Builder punch. Punch 3 petals, sponge edges with ink, and layer together to make one tulip. Use the leaf from the same punch to make the stems. Background could vary.

Vicki used the Stampin' Up bird punch to make the tulips and the leaves.  Such a sweet card.

Happy Easter Card (paper quilling)....so cute!

Look closely at this precious card.  It is done with the quilling technique.  The intricacy of the petals is awesome.  I tried quilling once - and was not overly successful (to put it delicately).  I need to try again ... I think this is a really darling card.

Ok, you still have a few hours to whip up one of these for that special someone on Easter Sunday.  Have a wonderful weekend!!!

Project Life

                                        EXCITING NEWS FROM STAMPIN' UP!

PROJECT LIFE!  More information will be forthcoming.  As I hear about it, so will you!  It's always so fun to have a new product line to make our creative lives more enjoyable and, with Stampin' Up's knack for matching colors and textures and Becky's knack for organization and simplicity, this is sure to be a winner.  I began my papercrafting "life"  making scrapbooks  for our daughters.  While it was fun, it wasn't something I wanted to tackle over and over.  The 12 x 12 format was a bit overwhelming and each page was done from scratch.  No wonder I morphed into cardmaking!!!  This looks like a great idea ... combine stamping with a little journalling, resize the uber large 12 x 12's to more manageable sizes... sounds like a plan!!!  And have your photo memories beautifully preserved.  Can't wait to learn more.  Remember to stay tuned as new information becomes available.

Get ready for a scrapbooking revolution with Project Life! It helps busy people (so basically all of us) document life using photos and journaling in a quick, simple, and fabulous way. We've partnered with Becky Higgins, creator of Project Life, to offer a complete line of elite products.
Becky explains, "It's called Project LIFE because it's about YOUR LIFE. Whatever your life is. Whatever your stage of life. Whatever your family circumstances. Whatever your lifestyle. Project Life is designed to help anyone and everyone get their pictures into a book."

Here is the You Tube link in case this video does not work for you....

You’ll be able to order a selection of Project Life products starting May 1! And with the launch of our new annual catalog on June 2, you’ll be able to buy from our complete line of Project Life products.

Cards with Linda and Sarah

                                                         Sunday Card Party

My friend Gail had her April SAS on Saturday but we were going to our daughter's for a party.  Friends Sarah and Linda were not able to go to Gail's either so we decided to make the cards the next day at my house.  I picked up the packets on my way to our daughter's house.  Thanks so much, Gail, for creating such cute cards and making up our 'kits' for us!

Here they are .....

Isn't this cute?  At first I thought it was a little martian and then realized it was a little lamb.  The sentiment (which is hard to read in the photo) says "thinking of EWE at Easter".  This one is going to Indiana for a grandson... so cute.

Simple card to make, but so effective.  The cardstock is just cut down a bit, flowers (from 'Flower Shop' this time) and the Fabulous stamp is on the inside.  Isn't it pretty?

Love this one!  I've seen versions of this one on Pinterest and wanted to do one.  Thanks Gail, this was a fun card to make.  Notice the grass is with SU's new fringe scissors.  This goes to other Indy grandson :-)

Definitely a cute 'kid' card - or maybe a 'kid at heart'.

There's a little story behind this one.  We were sharing a printout of the finished cards and I was looking at it upside down so Sarah and Linda would have the right view.  Well, duh, I put the black polka dots on the wrong side... nobody would know the difference ... here's Sarah's correct one ...

We all agreed, this was a favorite!

Isn't this neat?  The flower image is stamped on the green cardstock and embossed with whisper white.  It is also stamped on the white cardstock... when you cut away the corner you have a perfect match.  Love it.

and, of course, what party would be complete without some treats?  Yummy candies from Gail.  Well, yes, of course it is CHOCOLATES.

We had such a good time making these cards.  We yakked so much we didn't have time to complete one of the cards.  I still haven't finished it yet, but I will, and share it when I'm done.  It's a pretty one with butterflies ... stay tuned!  And thanks for visiting my blog :)
