Crazy Card Club June 2014

                                                            Crazy Card Club for June

Hi Friends...

I hope you've had a nice weekend!  We are gearing up for a family get-together next weekend (Memorial Day + hubby's birthday + granddaughter Aly's birthday)... should be fun!  But how can it be almost June already? I'm too old for warp speed :-)

Meanwhile, I have been making my 'crazy card club' cards and here is what I've come up with.

The inspiration came from my friend and fellow demonstrator Vicki Burdick ... to see her card click HERE.

Recipe...

Lattice BigZ die, little leaves sizzlit
Dots embossing folder
Whisper white, night of navy, soft sky, dsp (retired)
Pansy punch, petite petals punch, itty bitty punch pack, 3/4" round punch (for sentiment tag)
Rhinetone from basic jewels colored with alcohol marker
Sentiment from Wetlands

So many of the elements from this card are being retired (or are already).  But... can't wait to get started on some fresh new ideas from our new catalog!

Enjoy your day and thanks for stopping by today.

Sea Street

                                                       Playing with Sea Street

I hope you're having a nice start to the weekend.  Our weather is supposed to cool down tomorrow and Sunday and I can't wait!!!  It's been a horrible week for San Diego - hot and windy - and devastating fires. As far as I kow right now, all of my friends are safe but many have had to evacuate their homes during the worst of the firestorm... in one case, my friend Pam had to evacuate her home and they went to a friend's in San Marcos... would you believe, the fires caused that area to require evacuation too!  Sending heartfelt prayers to those affected by these tragic fires.

I have been playing a little bit with my new 'Sea Street' stamp set.  This will be available when the new catalog goes live on June 2... but here are two very similar (but different) samples.

With this first one I used watercolor paper and brushed a wash of coastal cabana and some pistachio pudding to make the ocean background.  Then I stamped the little crabs and lobsters, some coastal cabana fishes and finally fussy cut the octopus and placed him inside the porthole, but "escaping".  The idea was to have him appear to be oozing out of the ocean into where the viewers would be.  Make any sense?  Hope so.  Anyway, I used 3 sizes of the circle dies and then put tiny brads around the circle.

Here in the second sample, I have used more
coastal cabana in the ocean using the background "blob" from the Happy Watercolor stamp set.  I also included a window sheet so it looks much more like a porthole.  The biggest difference was in card #2... I really didn't want to 'fussy cut' another octopus so I stamped him right in there with the crabs, lobsters, and fishies and then (before die cutting the circle) I cut around the tentacles that I wanted sticking out

....Like this....

see the brass ring next to the red?  That's the way you want to cut the circle so it doesn't chop off the tentacles.  I should have taken a 'step by step' series of pictures... but I didn't :-(.

Here are the two together.  I like them both, but am partial to the second one - that's usually the case with my "creations".  The sentiment is from the first Paper Pumpkin kit which says "hey there, friend".  Due to a lack of space, I just inked the 'hey there' and in card 2 I double punched with my decorative label punch.

Have a wonderful weekend!!!

Endless Birthday Wishes

                                       New photopolymer Stamp available NOW

Here is a new stamp set (clear polymer) from SU

I’m excited to share our newest photopolymer set, Endless Birthday Wishes (Item# 137553), which includes some handwritten words and drawings. It’s similar to the set we offered for the holidays last year called Endless Wishes. The concept is that you can build lots of different birthday greetings (and more) by combining the handwritten words with typed words and phrases. And with photopolymer stamps (US/CA), grouping words and phrases together is simple..

PicMonkey Collage

If you make any birthday cards this year, I think this set will be a 'go to' -if is so versatile! Please let me know if you'd like this as part of your inventory.

And, now back to our regularly scheduled blog  =^..^=

Surprise, Surprise!!!  Another Tease... but really, when I saw this stamp set in the catalog I thought "oh, dear" which translates to 'what the heck am I supposed to make from that?'.  No worries, I thought the same thing when I first saw 'Gorgeous Grunge' and now it's one of my favorites - go figure!  So.... what am I talking about???

                                                         WORK OF ART

I can't show you the set as it is against 'sneak peek' policy, but go to your catalog (assuming you have yours by now) and on page 165 you'll find it.  Here are some great samples.....

Bloom with Hope

                                            BLOOM WITH HOPE

                                        (my new favorite hostess set)

Here are a few samples of a really pretty set called "Bloom with Hope".

Blendabilities & Bloom With Hope

using  Mossy Meadow ribbon and card stock - new "in" color

Bloom with Hope

Lost Lagoon Sympathy

using Lost Lagoon ribbon - another new "in" color

Here's Hello Honey ribbon - another yummy new "in" color.  So far, I only have Lost Lagoon but I intend to get them all.  It is a soft and silky satin ribbon with stitching of the same color.  It ties like a dream and is not bulky at all - making it very mail friendly.

I hope you're enjoying my little sneak peeks - I plan to tempt you more so stay tuned :-)

Sea Street samples

                                                       Cute new stamp set

"Sea Street"  from the new Stampin' Up catalog
                                               "Maritime" designer series paper

I hope you all had a wonderful mother's day.  We didn't have a family get together since my husband and granddaughters' birthdays happen in two weeks.  We're planning a big party that weekend ... looking forward to it.  Meanwhile, today I worked my little (?) tail off doing yard work.  It was such a mess out there and now it looks all pretty and neat. Maybe tomorrow I'll take a picture of my little flower beds ... I should have taken pictures before and after as it's quite a transformation.  I enjoyed it but I ache tonight ... a good ache if you know what I mean.  Feel like I accomplished a lot and also had lots of loving messages from the girls so it was a great day... although just the opposite of a "spa" day.

This little set is one I just got from SU.  Demonstrators are able to order a select few sets before the public sales begin on June 2.  I chose this cutie 'sea street' and also the new dsp 'maritime'.  Love them both.  Here are a few samples.
