An Apple for Teacher

Hi Friends

Today's card is to honor all those wonderful teachers out there who will soon be back in the classroom. They play such an important role instructing young minds to become responsible adults... thank you all!!!

This is for two challenges today ... the Color Throwdown which this week is to use Bermuda Bay, Real Red, and Smoky Slate.  You can see more samples of these vibrant colors HERE.  I also used the clean and simple sketch from Freshly Made Sketches so I am entering that challenge too.  You can see more samples using this sketch HERE.  There is also an underlying theme at Freshly Made Sketches regarding designer Lori Tecler's return to the Kindergarten classroom.  Good luck Lori... I know the kids will love you!

My card base is whisper white and is 5 1/2" square.  I decided to go with the school theme and I searched my room for an apple.  Nope.  So I made this 'core' with my old tab punch (at least I think that's what it was called).  I punched it out in whisper white and then again in real red - after cutting the red one in half horizontally, gluing it together, and sketching in some seeds, it sort of resembles an apple, you think?  I also used a rarely used punch that makes those little binder holes - I don't remember what that punch was called - I've had it for years.  Besides stamping the 'hello' from the new set Four for You and running that piece through the big shot with the stripes embossing folder, it was basically just an assembly operation after that.

I hope you've enjoyed this simple card ... and, again, good luck and thanks to all you teachers!!

Thanks for visiting
