Perfect Peacock

Hi Friends

I hope you enjoyed the long 4th of July weekend.

I'm going to be having a busy two weeks coming up so I won't be able to make any cards or play in any challenges until later in the month *sob*.  Several stamp sets in the new Stampin' Up Catalog have caught my eye and so I thought I'd like to post some samples each day using the new sets.

Todays feature is "Perfect Peacock"... isn't he magnificent?  April's card shows him as he would be without any coloring.  But look how cleverly she placed sequins to highlight him.

Perfect Peacock, Stampin Up

This next card using the traditional colors, which I will probably opt for, in the bright turquoise shades.

peacock thanks card by Lynn Weiss

But check out this next one using the purple hues ... fabulous!

Kitty Stamp: Purple Perfect Peacock Blendabilities

... this stamp set definitely has the wow factor!!!

Thanks for stopping by... my review (with samples, of course) will continue tomorrow.

July 4, 2014

Hi Friends

I copied a few festive images to share with you today.  I hope you have a sensational 4th of July celebration ... stay safe ... and have fun.  Happy Birthday to our Declaration of Independence!

A little background for those of us who may have forgotten some detail over the years...

Background

During the American Revolution, the legal separation of the Thirteen Colonies from Great Britain occurred on July 2, 1776, when the Second Continental Congress voted to approve a resolution of independence that had been proposed in June by Richard Henry Lee of Virginia declaring the United States independent from Great Britain. After voting for independence, Congress turned its attention to the Declaration of Independence, a statement explaining this decision, which had been prepared by a Committee of Five, with Thomas Jefferson as its principal author. Congress debated and revised the wording of the Declaration, finally approving it on July 4. A day earlier, John Adams had written to his wife Abigail:
The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more.
Adams's prediction was off by two days. From the outset, Americans celebrated independence on July 4, the date shown on the much-publicized Declaration of Independence, rather than on July 2, the date the resolution of independence was approved in a closed session of Congress.

Some of these items (shown above) may be sold out as they are all very popular, but Lynda will be taking custom orders the day of the fair.  You can order any item in any color - that's truly custom!!!  Here is a link to her Etsy Shop ... you might want to check it out, decide what you'd like, and place a custom order at the show!

Don't live nearby???  No problem.  You can order from Lynda anytime from her Etsy shop.

Here is the flyer for the Fair ... with a little map to show you the location.

I don't think the map is showing up too well but you can always go to Google maps and plug in 120 N. Park Drive, El Cajon CA for driving directions.  But, let me help a little.  Go east on the 8 toward Indio and take the Greenfield exit.  Turn right and go to the next traffic light and turn left.  Follow Crest Blvd all the way up into the town ... there will be signs to help you.  Remember... the Fair is free and runs from 8 AM to 1 PM on July 4th.

Enjoy your day - maybe mention my name and get a discount???

Happy Independence Day, America!!!

Hello There Friday Mashup

Hi Friends

Happy Monday ... I hope you're planning a fun week.  Today's card is for those occasions when you want to send someone a greeting to cheer their day but it's not their birthday or any other event.  So, the gals over at the Friday Mashup challenged us to do just that... make a "hello" card.  But, to mash it up, the challenge also includes adding sequins.  It's a fun challenge ... you should play along too.  It always takes me a while to "ponder" what I'm going to create so I end up looking a lots of my stamps to decide.   I haven't used this little House Mouse stamp in so long and he just popped out of the basket into my hands.  Love that!!

I wasn't quite sure where sequins were going to be added, but started by coloring the mouse and his little friend with Copics.  The base card is whisper white, the blue was some I had on hand from another card, the yellow layer is daffodil delight and the sequins are a million years old from my stash.  I used SU's marina mist chevron ribbon, a little strip of yellow and my sentiment is from SU's Happy Day.

My cards are sort of like Forrest Gump's box of chocolates... I never know what I'm going to get... but this time I am thrilled with the way this turned out (if I do say so myself).  I hope you like it too and thanks for the visit.

Be back soon - hope you are too!
