Field Flowers

More Field Flowers

I (obviously) like this set a lot - it's fun to see what happens with different color combinations.  With this card I used the new crisp cantaloupe for the first inking and primrose petals for the details - double stamp provides lovely shadings.  I used my fancy fan embossing folder on whisper white and layered that on primrose petals cs.  the ribbon is Stampin' Up! from the 2013 in-colors (primrose petals again).  The green layer around the flower panel is pear pizzazz as are the stems.  i used the itty bitty banners 'thank you' for the sentiment.  There you have the 'basic recipe'... try it!

I hope you've enjoyed this rather simple little card.  It was fun to make.  I don't even mind cutting out the flowers... i just do it when i'm watching (make that listening) to tv at night.

I'll have another card tomorrow.... hope you come back soon.

Mosaic Madness

Mosaic Madness

New set from Stampin' Up!  Love it.  I bought the bundle which includes the stamp set and the punch.  Really makes it a fun operation when you can stamp off a bunch of the stamps and then punch them out - no fussy cuts to worry about!  You can find them in the new 2013 - 2014 catalog starting on page 121.  Have fun with this set -  I'll place the order for you!

I used all new "IN COLORS" - crisp cantaloupe, pistachio pudding, coastal cabana, and strawberry slush.  The other color (which I didn't use on this card) is baked brown sugar (it is a beautiful soft honey brown).  I love all the new colors.  The ribbon is not available in the catalog - I used some of my 'groovy guava' from years ago - it's a good match with the cantaloupe.  I also used my new embossing folder "modern mosaic".  The punched images fit perfectly!!!

Thanks for the visit - leave me comments if you like - I'd love to hear from you.  Enjoy your weekend...
 Hugs,
Pat

Box card Swaps

Box card

Last weekend we had a blast at a Stampin' Up! Demonstrators' meeting and swap.  Of course, we also enjoyed a yummy lunch!  I decided to make these box cards to swap and I think they liked them.

Winner winner... chicken dinner?  Nope, got the chicken dinner but didn't win *pout*.  There were some awesome cards and projects there - it was a fun day.

I found the recipe for this box card on Splitcoast Stampers with a great tutorial by Beate Johns ... thanks so much for publishing the 'how to' video for those of us needing visual help...

http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/boxcard/

I was excited to get started using the new "gingham garden" designer series paper - so cute.  I also used my new stamp set "kind and cosy" from the 2014 catalog.

I hope you enjoy looking at these... make some yourself?  They fit in a regular A2 envelope and collapse flat for mailing - not too bulky either - normal postage - love that!!!

Want to get these items from Stampin' Up?  Send me an email and I'll get it started for you!

Hugs,
Pat

Corona Demonstrators Meeting

Corona Demonstrators Meeting

Last weekend I was lucky enough to join a group of fellow demonstrators and uber talented ladies for a meeting and card swap.  I'll show you what I made for the swap tomorrow but today I want to share the darling box and note cards my upline Gail Reed gave to us.  I swear, she comes up with the cutest things all the time.

I {think} she used the blossom punch for the petals and the new hexagon punch for the centers.  Not complicated, but OH so cute!  This dsp is 'Afternoon Picnic' new in the current catalog.

Wow... this is a little 'off-track' but the above picture was just taken this morning with my Nikon Coolpix (my go-to camera for years) because it was upstairs and handy.  Truth be told, I was too lazy to go downstairs and get my iphone.  Well, check out these pictures below which were taken with my iphone5 and not enhanced in any way.  I mean WOW... what a difference... no photoshop enhancing whatsoever.  Kudos Apple - this camera is fabulous!!!

This wonderful card was made by my friend and fellow demonstrator Wanda Montgomery and it won the best card contest... congratulations Wanda... it's a beauty.

Here are a few of the others - all beautiful - all winners for sure!

I just love this one!  I sure hope Stampin' Up! brings back these flowers!!!

As you can see - lots and lots of talent in the room!!!

Thanks for dropping by... come back soon.
Hugs,
Pat

Feeling Sentimental SAB

Ticket to ride

What??? Is everybody a May birthday?  HaHa... in my family that seems to be the case... well, actually, family and friends.  So today I made two 'man' birthday cards.  I really find them challenging and don't have too many sets for masculine cards.

I used 'Feeling Sentimental' from the Stampin' Up! sale-a-bration mini catalog.  Sure wish this one had made it into the new catalog but, alas, it didn't.  It's a fun set.  I used chocolate chip cs as the base with marina mist and very vanilla.  The little tickets are from Taylored Expressions Life is a Circus and I just hand cut them out.  I used another favorite 'En Francais' as the background.

I hope you enjoy this card - hope the recipients do too.

Until next time.... take care

Pat

Sneak Peek

Happy May Everyone!

We are enjoying some marvelous weather the last few weeks so Spring has Sprung here in southern California.  Yesterday I received my first order from the new Stampin' Up! 2013 - 2014 catalog (sneak peeks for demonstrators) and I just had to show you this hostess set.  It is called Simply Sketched and it's really pretty.  You may begin ordering May 31st - you might want to keep this set in mind if you like coloring images.  It features 3 images and 3 sentiments.  What I've done here, is combine all the images into a bit of a vignette using a masking technique.  Basically, you stamp the image you want in the front first (just opposite of what you'd think)... then stamp that image again onto scrap paper, cut it out, and use it as a mask while you stamp the rest of your 'picture'.

I colored the images using the ink pads and an aqua painter, (and, yes, all the new "in colors"), cut it all out using the apothecary accents framelets and did a little shadow daubing while the image was still in the framelet.  Then I popped it up with dimensionals onto an embossed piece of whisper white, clipped the corners with the cropodile and put it on the card base which is another sneak peek - crisp cantaloupe. The ribbon is not SU.

The catalogs are out now - if you'd like one please contact me and we'll get that set up.  Enjoy browsing!!!

Hugs,
Pat
