Hello Pumpkin

Happy Monday everyone!

Today my little card is a 4 1/4 square for Halloween.  It's Mojo Monday time and the last week of the month is the 'round or square' sketch.  I was inspired to get my little pumpkin out of the storage book and get it inky!

I used Verve's "Hello Pumpkin" set stamping it on my white circle space and also on some of the designer paper... SU!'s 'creepy crawly'... and then cut out the pumpkin body and hat.  I colored the little bear with Copics E53 and E55, pierced the edge of the round and layered it on some plain orange cardstock.  I once saw a question posed on Facebook by one of the PaperCrafts magazine designers regarding which crafting tool you would never be able to do without... easy answer for me... my Cuttlebug!!!  I think I use it on every card.  Anyway, I used my circle nesties with my 'bug and placed that on some green from the 'creepy crawly' set.  The punch I used along the edge is 'double loops' by Martha Stewart.  This was a really fun card to make.  Hope you enjoy!  Thanks for stopping by...

Viva la Verve - August week 4

First off, let me apologize for the terrible picture.  I don't know if it was the contrast against the dark counter top or the light in the room... whatever it was it's disappointing.  This card looks much better IRL but I decided to share it anyway.   Here is the card, the sketch, and the inspiration bedroom photo.

I started off with some scrapbook paper by Scrapworks called 'Florabella'.  I usually do not like to work with scrapbook paper as the images/patterns are waaaaay too large to suit me.  I used SU!'s soft sky, chocolate chip and very vanilla as my cardstocks.  The focal point of this card is the little flowers which are my favorites at the moment - from The Cat's Pajamas.  I also used their button die for the centers.  I cut my soft sky paper to the sizes I wanted, did my scallops, and ran them through the Cuttlebug with my swiss dots embossing folder.  I then used a strip of chocolate chip to help set off the flowers.  The twine is actually white kitchen string which I just swiped with a brown Copic marker and I didn't care if it covered entirely or not since it's all the rage right now to have candy striped twine (which I don't have, yet).

That's about all that went on with the card... it's not one of my faves but it really is prettier in real life.

Be back soon,
Patty

Stuff I used....
Stamps - Happy Birthday plain jane - Verve
Ink - chocolate chip
Paper - Florabella ds, soft sky, choc chip, very vanilla
Accessories - Nesties labels 4, Copic marker, white twine, scallop border, Cbug swiss dots ef, 1/4" chocolate chip gros grain ribbon, button die, flower die - TCP

Balloon Ride wi Deeanna

I mean it... if you ever have the chance to go up in a hot air balloon... do not hesitate!!!  It is absolutely magical.  We took our granddaughter for a balloon ride last week over the beautiful Temecula Valley.  We wanted to do something with her that she'd always remember and, oh, by the way, it was also on our 'bucket list'.  No card today but here are some pictures from that wonderful day last week!  I hope you enjoy our adventure.........

We got there at "O dark thirty"

I think she approves ;-)

Deeanna and me after our ride

After the ride we had a wonderful champagne breakfast.

Hoping this made you smile today.... it was certainly a 'magical flight'

Verve Relax

Hope you're having a good day too!  My friend sent me an email this morning which really struck my funny bone... I'm still giggling!  Good way to start the day.

My card today is one I made for Verve's last release challenge.  Julee created this sketch and I used my Verve 'Relax' with it which is my favorite set right now.  I think it's a happy little card.

If you've followed this blog at all, you know how much I love my Cosmo Cricket 'Early Bird' paper ... used here.  I just placed an order with 7 kids and would have ordered more but they didn't have it...sob!!  I like the 'fun' feeling this paper gives a card.  Anyway, I used a white base for my card and avocado for my scallops and layers.  The scallops are by die-namics which can be found at My Favorite Things.  I used my circle nestabilities (both scallop and standard) for the sentiment layers.  The palm trees have been colored with my Copic sketch markers and cut out.

Well, I hope life is good for you today... stop by again soon.

Mojo Monday 153

Happy Monday to you!

I got my Mojo Monday challenge done today... on Monday!!!  I'm so proud (*grin*).  I really like this sketch and think it will be a 'go to' for a long time.  What a great way to use up scraps that are just too precious to throw away.  It was created by Mary Fish...

I used a plaid designer paper ... I don't know the name or source of it as it was a large scrap in my box.  I used my die cut flowers and buttons from The Cat's Pajamas and the little bows are just embroidery thread.  I'm going to keep this post short due to the heat ... it's sizzling up here.  Please check below for the supplies I used for this card... and thanks for stopping by.

Patty

Paper - unknown designer paper (plaid), bashful blue, chocolate chip, & vanilla - SU!

VLV August week 3

Happy Saturday!

This is a card I made yesterday for Viva la Verve.  It is for week 3 - I'm intending to do week 4 today.  Our granddaughter, Deeanna, was here for a wonderful visit all last week and card making was not on the menu.  She lives 3000 miles away and we don't get to be with her anywhere near as often as we would like.  I miss her already (*sniff*).

Here are the particulars for the card... I used Amber Hight's sketch and an inspiration bedroom.

I used my DCWV La Creme paper pack, double bordered it with kraft and white where I made a border with a Martha Stewart edge punch (quilt?, I think).  Using my Spellbinder's labels 4 die cuts I used two sizes for the black border and the white sentiment layer which was sponged while in the die with Ranger antique linen.  I pierced around the outer layer.  The black 'belly band' that is behind the designer paper was run through the cuttlebug with 'swirls' embossing folder.  I added a few little crystals to the corner, added a satin bow and called it finished.  I'm not sure if this will be an anniversary card or birthday... we'll see.

Thanks for paying me a visit and have a great day!
Patty

What's in it...
Stamps - Wishing You - Verve
Ink - chocolate chip - SU!, antique linen - Ranger
Paper - La Creme - DCWV, kraft, white - SU!
Accessories - cb embossing folder, piercing tool, 3/8" caramel satin ribbon, MS edge punch, crystals

Cat's Pajamas Salud

Hi and Hola!!!

I made this card for one of the Splitcoast Dirty Dozen challenges and am just getting around to putting it on my blog.  This adorable little penguin is from The Cat's Pajamas and is called Salud.

I just love him!  I paper pieced his sombrero after coloring it with Copics.  The paper I used is from Cosmo Cricket's 'Garden Variety'.  I'm running pretty low on this... note to self - get more!!!  I love the bright colors in this pack and it complements the penguins - I think.  The circles were cut with scallop and standard nestabilities and the sentiment was cut with my SU! oval punches.  I used a bright red for my layering and a bold yellow background (summer sun by SU! - I think).  The card base is Papertrey white.  This was my last little piece of the black & white checkered ribbon but I'll get more.  The little fruity thing in the margarita is a little red rhinestone but I don't think it shows up very clearly.

Well, I hope you've enjoyed this little Salud card... thanks a lot for dropping by!

Patty

Paper - Cosmo Cricket 'Garden Variety', real red, summer sun cs

Fluttering By and Petals & Stems

Hi

Happy Friday!  Hope you're looking foward to a great weekend.

The card I want to share with you today features Verve's Petals & Stems as well as Fluttering By.  These were some of my first Verve sets and I still love them.  Julee has challenged us to make a card using one of these two sets... no problem for me... they are "pets" of mine so I used them both!

I used my Cosmo Cricket Early Bird (again... I know... but I adore it).  I also used my new edge punch "double loop" by Martha Stewart, circle nesties, Cuttlebug 'swiss dots', some little pearls, pop dots and some so saffron ribbon.   I had a pretty good idea of how I wanted it to look before I started out so it went together like a breeze and I'm happy with it.  My cardstock colors are so saffron and baja breeze from SU!.  There is a little aqua in the flowered paper but I think I covered most of it up.  But I do like the contrast.  I used real red and old olive ink.

That's about it for today. I'm not going to type out a recipe since it's all in the text.  Have a great weekend!

Viva la Verve - August week 2

Good Morning...!  And a happy Thursday to you all.   It's been another busy week around here what with some lengthy appointments and just general 'stuff'.  We're getting excited to have our granddaughter come stay with us for a week... she gets in Saturday night!  We've planned some exciting things to do with her... some neat surprises... and I'll try to post pictures when I have time in between activities.  Can't wait!

Today's card is my week 2 Viva la Verve challenge submission.  This month we are to select inspiration photos from bedrooms and follow Amber's sketch (of course).

So, now you see what came out of what!  I used my Basic Grey Kioshi paper pack and my new Martha Stewart double loop edge punch to get it started.  The card is a basic white base with so saffron as my layering paper.  I used Spellbinders nestabilities labels 1 and stamped 'sunshine and smiles' from Verve's "Let it Shine" stamp set and then angled the placement to fit the sentiment.  I bordered it with yellow stickles (and am now second-guessing that decision - maybe should have used my liquid pearls).  The butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch also.  I used a 5/8" so saffron grosgrain ribbon from SU! and tied a big bow!

I hope you enjoy this card ... I'm looking at it as I type and it sure is colorful...!!!

Thanks for taking a peek and I'll be back with more soon!  Need to go and do my card for Verve's Petals & Stems - Fluttering By challenge... two of my faves!!!

See ya... have a great day...

Patty

What I used:
Stamps - Verve - Let it shine
Paper - BG Kioshi, SU! so saffron, whisper white
Ink:  So saffron for sponging, wild wasabi for sentiment (both SU!)
Extras - saffron ribbon, yellow stickles, Nesties, MS butterfly punch, MS loop edge punch

VLV week 1

Viva la Verve - week 1

I hope you're having a nice weekend so far!  I can't believe it's August already... San Diego is still in Springtime with our gorgeous weather.  I know, I'm almost afraid to say anything for fear the heat will move in... taking a chance here!  But, for right now, it is lovely!

The card I'm sharing today is for Amber's Friday sketch (Viva la Verve).  I loved this weeks' sketch and the inspiration bedroom I chose worked perfectly with the card I dreamed up!!!  Don't you just love it when a plan goes together??? Me too!

I started by stamping off several of the flowers from Verve's LOVE'S FLOWER stamp set (one of my favorites) and coloring them with Copic sketch markers.  I added crystal stickles to the inside of the flower and also put a dot of white opal (liquid pearls) to the centers.  I've had the paper for some time... it is La Creme 8 x 8 pack that I got at JoAnne's (by DCWV).  The only ribbon involved is for the two little tabs on the left side of the image and a band around the polka dot layer... I used flowers instead of bows this time! The sentiment is from Love's Flower also.  I hope you enjoy this card... thanks for stopping by to take a look!

Back soon,

Patty

Nitty Gritties:
Stamps - Verve's Love's Flower
Paper - DCWV (Die Cuts with a View) La Creme, basic black, basic white
Ink - Memento, Copic sketch markers
Ribbon - Michael's, Liquid pearls, crystal stickles

Mojo 150 Blue Skies

Hello there...

Today I am sharing a card I made for Mojo Monday!  Yes, I am aware that it is Friday (hee hee)... my poor old computer has been locking up on me so I'm later than usual with this project!

Here is Julee's sketch.

I think this sketch is awesome and I wanted to make my card as true to it as possible.  I chose the yummy set "Blue Skies" for the butterfly and "Accent Notes" for the sentiment.  I used Basic Grey's Kioshi paper pack and SU!'s soft sky is the card base.  The butterfly was stamped twice and colored with Copics.  I added just a wee bit of crystal Stickles for a few dots on the wings.

I'm going to close now since my computer seems to want a 'tune-up' soon!  Guess that will be tomorrow's chore.  Thanks so much for taking a look...

Back soon,

Patty

Recipe:
Stamps - Verve's Blue Skies and Accent Notes

Flourishes Nasturtiums

I hope you're having a nice week so far.  Thank you for all the lovely comments you left regarding my anni-VERVE-sary card.  It was such fun to participate... love my Verve!!!  Last week was really hectic getting all the Splitcoast Stampers challenges taken care of too.  But... I did it!!!  Not sure when they'll announce the random winners for SCS but I'll be sure and let ya know : D.

The card I chose to share with you today is from one of those challenges (well, two, actually).  I used one of my favorite images by Flourishes "Nasturtiums" and colored with Copics.  I think their stamps are the very, very best for coloring.  It's a pretty straightforward card once you get the coloring done.  I used my die-namics large scallop die with my Cuttlebug to create the border.  These dies can be purchased at My Favorite Things and they cut beautifully!  I used a few Martha Stewart gems and a big white satin ribbon (Offray) and that was about it.  My card only consists of three colors of cardstock... white, avocado and orange.  Guess I won't list the ingredients separately since this pretty much listed them already.  Have a great week and I'll be back soon.

Thanks for dropping by...

Patty

Happy Anniversary VERVE.

Welcome to the Anni-VERVE-sary Blog Hop! Verve turns three today and we’re celebrating with a hop, hop, hop! If you've already been hopping along, you arrived here from oh, so talented Susan's  blog. If not, head on over to Julee's Blog (owner of Verve), for all the info on how to win prizes (after all, what's a party without presents?), and to start hopping from the beginning. If there's a hiccup along the hop, you can always head to the Master Hop List to get the full list of links.   I am just thrilled to be a part of this celebration for one of the nicest people and the finest companies around!  I adore all my Verve stamps!!!

Believe it or not, this card began with one of Julee's first sketches from 2007.  I think somewhere along the line it began to have a life of it's own but I still like the way it turned out.  Of course, I chose to do it in aqua and brown (Verve's colors) and chose some designer paper from DCWV paper pack Nana's Kitchen and cardstock from my stash of Papertrey Ink... aqua mist and a rich brown.  The sentiment is from Verve's newest release Blue Skies... love it!  Since I'm toward the end of the hop, I'm going to spare you the details (but they're below) and let you get on your way!  You've been at this awhile.
Thanks for hopping by! Now it's time to hop on over to  Kerri's blog, for a little more Verve-y goodness.

Bye for now...
Patty
