Autumn's Bounty

Hi Stampers

Here's the card that inspired my crazy card club submission for this month - "harvest blessings" posted Monday.  This is the one we made in class and it's pretty awesome, don't you think?  I really do like this fold ... this one opens left to right whereas my ccc opens right to left.  Both quite 'do-able'. This image is from Sweet and Sassy Stamps entitled Autumn Bounty.  Once again it was stamped with Memento black and colored with Copics. The cardstock is SU crumb cake layered on chocolate brown - once again it looks grey in my photo - but it's a kraft color.

The DSP is by Bo Bunny ... it is Apple Cider Stripe and Apple Cider Autumn.  Sorry to say I don't know the name or brand of the edge punch we used.  We also sponged the edges around the bouquet to soften the harsh contrast.  It's pretty, isn't it?  Sherry does very nice designs for us to play with.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.  We're going to a high school play Saturday night.  They are putting on Agatha Christie's "And then there were None".  Should be fun!

Happy Stamping

Party Presents Elephant

Hi Friends

I have to admit it... I totally love this card!  I made this at Sherry's stamp party a week or so ago and actually opted to make two.  I'm a sucker for cute little critters and this little elephant sure fits that bill... don't you think?  He's by Wild Rose Studio stamps and his name is "Party Presents".  I don't own this set, but that may have to be corrected very soon *grin*

I colored him with Copics.  I must insert here that I like Stampin Up's new blendabilities but I have over 100 Copics so they are my go-to pens.  I only have a few of the blendabilities... but I do like them.  Anyway, our little elephant sits on a layered whisper white/black shape which is Sizzix "labels ornate #2".  That pretty dsp is Authentique 'interlock' with the white dry embossed panel is done with a swirl folder.

I hope you like this little guy - he's a cutie!

Thanks for the visit

Sweet Dandelions all Occasion

Hi Everyone

Happy Wednesday to you!!  Today I have an 'all occasion' card to share.  Monitors can be tricky ... this card looks like it has a grey base as I type this but it is actually a very pretty sage green.  I hope it shows up green on your screen - 'cuz it is!

It's a stamp from Our Craft Lounge called 'Dandies'.  The whisper white background is dry embossed with a Darice folder called Dandelions... nice match.  The dandelions were stamped with tuxedo black and colored with copics... not heavily... just a suggestion of color.  What sets them off is the Star Dust stickles inside the flowers.

I'm sorry the sparkle doesn't show much (if at all) but I hope you can imagine the flowers twinkling :-).  The edge punch is Stampin Up's scallop.  The little 1/2 circle that has the pearls is just a 1" circle of the sage green, folded in half.  Very simple and fun card to make.  SU has a lot of images that would fit this design perfectly... so check your catalogs!

I hope you like these happy little 'weeds' ... some weeds are pretty!

Ok... that's it for today... time to run errands ... thanks for stopping by

Birthday Girl

Hi there stamping peeps!

I hope you enjoyed the Halloween cards last week.  Today I addressed and mailed them since some of them have to travel to Indiana (from California).  I know they'll get there way too early, but hope they will be included in any decorations the kids and grandkids want to do.

So let's break from the holidays for a bit ... I have some all occasion and birthdays to share.  This sweet little girl I did at my friend, Sherry's, stamping party and I adore her.  She's so sweet and simple in design.  Her name is "Birthday Girl" (appropriately enough) and she is from Wild Rose Studio stamps.

She was stamped with Memento tuxedo black and colored with my copics.  The papers used are SU whisper white and black.  The background paper is 'plum' from Kaisercraft - violet crush collection.  The yummy ribbon is 5/8" plum satin.  Some gold stickles is dotted at the base of the cake and on the candles but it doesn't show up in the photo... sorry.  She has a little violet rhinestone holding up her ponytail.  Cute?  I like her.

That's about it for today - and, as always, I appreciate your taking time out of your day to visit.

Come back soon...

Harvest Blessings

Hi Stampers

Here we go with another Monday.  But, we're well into my favorite season with the days getting cooler with all the Fall Festivals, decorations, and anticipation for the holidays ahead.  All good things!!

That said, I have a "fun fold" Fall card for you today... that's a mouthful.  I made this for our crazy card club for October.  The flap fold might be a little difficult to describe but let's give it a try.

Here it is closed ... what you see when you take it out of the envelope

Then you lift up the little flap that has your image and greeting on it

voila... the inside of the card

Not too big a deal, right?  Here are some measurements if you'd like to copy this design ...

A2 card -- base is 5 1/2 x 4 1/4  -- standard
Next you want to trim off about 1/2 - 3/4" from the front right side opening and punch that edge
The "flap" strip is cut at 3" x 7" and scored at 3 1/8 and 3 1/4

I used a Verve 'plain Jane' stamp for the outside image and Verve's Harvest Blessings for the small wheat inside as well as the sentiment on the front.  I also used the solid stamp from SU's Happy Watercolor behind the wheat.  The papers I used are all retired Sweater Weather from last year but any pleasing combination of dsp with coordinating inks will work.

I hope my explanation is clear ... do you like the card?  Leave me a comment, I enjoy your input.  If you have any questions please just ask and I will reply to help you.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great week!  I will have some fun cards from a recent SAS to share with you this week.

Day 10 Halloween Countdown

Hi Everybody...

Today is our grand finale of the 10 day Halloween countdown ... can I have a drum roll, please?  I just have to say, while I have enjoyed making all the cards, this one is my very favorite.

Do you love this little hedgehog?  He's all dressed up as Count Dracula ... his name is Count Hedgula (heehee) and he is made by Penny Black.  I adore him!  There's a lot going on with this card so lets get to it.  The papers used on this card are basic black, tangerine tango, and whisper white from Stampin' Up!  The whisper white layer is embossed with the stripes embossing folder and then sponged lightly with smoky slate. The dsp is Basic Grey and the pens used are Copics.  The wonderful spider web punch is by Martha Stewart.

I stamped the hedgie on whisper white and then colored him with my Copics.  I cut out the liitle bucket of candy as well as the bat and popped them up with dimensionals.  I colored the candy with Copics and then added some clear sparkle Stickles.  The bright green satin ribbon is from my stash and picks up some of the colors of the designer paper.

I hope you like him as much as I do.  I also hope you've enjoyed our Halloween countdown and are ready to make some cards for friends and family.  I'm about to get out my envelopes and start addressing so I can send these cards out in time for Halloween.  I'm not sure I'm going to part with Count Hedgula, however =^..^=.  I may just have to keep him for myself :-).

Next week let's do some more fall cards, okay?  See you then and thanks for dropping by!

Day 9 Halloween Countdown

Hi there...

This little bewitching cutie is from last year's catalog ... sorry about that... but any little witch will do, right?  As for sentiments, you can make it current with the Tee-Hee-Hee stamp set... shown below. I love the sentiments in that set.

So let your imagination run wild ... get out your supplies and start creating!  But, first and foremost, HAVE FUN!!!   Tomorrow we'll wrap up our countdown with the card, in my humble opinion, is the cutest of the bunch!!!

Day 8 Halloween countdown

Hi Friends

Today is all about the 'guys' that you send cards to.  You know, the boys that used to like the cutesy cards and now groan?  Here's the solution ... these two cards are simple but still get the greeting across and show that Halloween doesn't have to be all about little kids.

This stamp set is from last year's 'Toil and Trouble' ... I rarely sell my stamp sets, even if they are 'retired'.  But the point of this countdown is to give you ideas for cards ... for all generations.

I hope you've enjoyed the ideas so far ... come back tomorrow for a 'bewitching' time ;-p

Day 7 Halloween Countdown

Hi stampers

Happy hump day, everyone!  It's the little ghost again... but this time he is done in whisper white.  I love all the layers on this card ... I think it makes it more interesting, don't you?  The base of the card is tangerine tango with basic grey, black, and smoky slate as the dominant colors.  The Fun Fall framelits were used for the ghost and the little pumpkin and the sentiment is from the new set "Ghoulish Greetings".

Building the card ... base is tangerine tango (I already said that, right? :-)), then you want a layer of the dsp 'confetti celebration', a smoky slate layer with a piece of basic grey embossed with the chevron embossing folder, a basic black star from the framelits collection, your sentiment, the ghost and the pumpkin, stamped in tangerine tango.  A band of smoky slate chevron ribbon and a little gold button with basic black 1/8" ribbon finishes the look.  Like it?  I do, and hope you do too.  Tomorrow we'll have two cards that are perfect for the guys and then my very favorite 'count hedgula' will round out the week.

See you tomorrow... thanks for dropping by

Day 5 Halloween Countdown

Hi friends

I hope you had a nice weekend.  I guess today is a holiday for some of you as it is Columbus Day here in the states.  I have a date with some friends to play mahjong so I'd better make this post a bit brief.  I  did work on my crazy cards over the weekend and can't wait to show you!  I love it... maybe I'll interrupt the Halloween countdown and turn it into a fall fest countdown... maybe?  It's Fall-related but not Halloween.  Ok, later this week.

Let me wish my Canadian friends a very Happy Thanksgiving!!! I hope your tables were loaded with all of Autumn's bounty!!!

Well, here we go with our Halloween countdown...

I really like this one.  It's actually more narrow than the standard A2 card that we are used to.  The points of the flagged turquoise piece measure 4 1/4 and it's length is 5 1/2 so it winds up fitting in an A2 envelope just fine.  I like the dimension on this one.

Well, I must dash... I think I'll start throwing in some Autumn cards this week too!  As always, thanks so much for the visit and have a super Monday!

Day 4 Halloween Countdown

Hi Friends

Here we are at day 4 of the Halloween countdown and this card is one of my favorites.  I love this sentiment! The inside of the card (not shown) has white cs and I stamped a few brooms on it.  These items are all in the Holiday mini and available now.

This fun little card uses the Tee Hee stamp set and the Motley Crew dsp that I showed you in yesterday's blog.  If you missed it, scroll down for a picture of the papers.

Tee-Hee-Hee Photopolymer Stamp Set       #135125
Price$15.95

If you only buy one halloween stamp set, I think this one just about covers it all.  I hope you've enjoyed today's blog and you'll give this set a try.  The possibilities are endless.

Thanks for taking some time out of your day to stop by and tune in next week for more of the Halloween countdown... it's "creeping" closer to that day!!!
