Popsicle Colors

Hi Friends

I'm still slogging away arranging pictures and getting them 'safely' onto Shutterfly.  A few years ago, my computer crashed due to a virus and I lost all my pictures... except those I had transferred off site... like Shutterfly.  I've learned my lesson!  Anyway, thanks for your patience in awaiting our gorgeous Alps pictures... they'll be posted soon.

Meanwhile, I just had to take a break today and play with some colors offered up by the Color Throwdown Challenge.  These colors are so yummy, I just had to use them.  Click on over to see more samples here

I love the crisp, cool "popsicle" colors in the sample - here is what I came up with.

I used my new SU Work of Art for the color splashes and SU's Summer Silhouettes for the flowers.  I was trying to make a card without flowers on it... apparently that is not in my DNA.  I stamped the tiny flower twice and popped it up with dimensionals.  The sentiment is by Reverse Confetti.

I hope you like my cheerful and colorful card... it makes me smile.

Thanks for stopping by

Belated SAS

Hi friends and happy Tuesday to you!!!

I know it's cliche to say 'time flies' but, wow, I'm reminded of it constantly.  It's been a week since we returned from our vacation and I'm making slow but steady progress on sorting/culling our pictures ... I guess 'progress' is the operative word here :-).  So, stay tuned ... I'll share some pix soon.

Sunday my friend, Linda, came over to stamp.  We had both missed Pam's SAS in July and decided to buy the packet from her and make it a play day!  We had a great time making the following cards.  I hope you enjoy them.  Feel free to pin and case any that you like...

Back soon - thanks for visiting.

Fabulous Florets

Hi Friends

Today I want to share a card made for the Color Throwdown.  Love the scene in their sample... sure looks like Venice to me.  This is my first challenge since getting back from my trip and it's one of my favorites.  You can see the other samples here.  I really enjoy playing with different color combinations.

For my card I decided to do a floral arrangement - but wanted to keep it simple, and so "Fabulous Florets" was the set I chose.  I colored the flowers with my copics trying to get as close to the throwdown colors as possible.  Unfortunately, I don't have these SU markers so here is my effort.

I stamped the flowers onto whisper white ... colored them ... and cut each one out and, using glue dots, arranged them on the card.  The base is whisper white and I ran the white layer through the big shot using the diagonal stripes embossing folder.  Once I had the flowers and leaves placed and stuck down I decided to add just a couple of blingy embellies.  I used my gold stickles for a little depth in the flower centers and some bermuda bay candy dots in the corner.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Messages and I cut it out with the word window punch.

I hope you'll try this color combination sometime... all the complementary colors work for me!

Thanks for visiting

Punch Art

Hello my friends...

We are back from our vacation to the Alps and (somewhat) back to normal.  I hope you've been enjoying the blogs I prepared for delayed posting during our time away.  I am planning to begin daily postings of our travels on a day by day basis but between the two of us we took over 1000 pictures - some good, some really good, and some, well, not so good - I think it may take some time for me to weed through the pictures and notes so it may be next week before I am prepared enough to post a sampling of our trip.  We started in Munich, Germany and from there went to Austria, Italy, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.  But more on that later.

During the time I was gone, Stampin' Up had their annual convention in Salt Lake City and I'm sure it was lots of fun.  From what I can glean from other demonstrators, there will be more "punch art" in our futures. That pleases me ... I love punches and am always amazed at the creations people come up with.  Here is a sample of how to use some of the following punches....

Punches used are from pages 219 - 223: Blossom Punch #125603, Pansy punch #130698, Bird Builder (leaves & snail) #117191, 1/2" Circle #119869, 3/4" circle #119873. 1" circle #119868, 1-1/4" circle #119861, 1-3/8" circle #119860

Isn't this cute?  I adore the little snail made with all the circle punches and the bird punch.  Can't wait to try this out.  Here's another picture that was apparently a display at Convention.  Fun, fun!!

Time for me to go play around with my trip photos... stay tuned... and wish me luck... lottsa pix!

Zoo Babies

Hi there

I hope you're back here today because you are enjoying our little review.  I knew I wouldn't be available to make cards and play challenges these last couple of weeks but didn't want my blog to sit idle.  So, since the last couple of posts were somewhat serious, I thought today we'd do cute and whimsical.  Enter Zoo Babies! This set is not new this year but was on my wish list last year so let's look it over.

Well... I can't resist.  Some time ago I received a birthday card which has stuck with me throughout the years. A hippo, birds, lambs ... here's the verse ... caution!!!  it's pretty corny but I thought it was so cute and you could use Zoo Babies to do this ... ok, here goes...

Kind Koala

Hi Friends

Today I'm going to be featuring a really cute stamp (single) called Kind Koala.  Find him on page 113 of the new catalog.  He comes in wood only ... #134360 $9.95.

Aren't these bags adorable?  Angie of ChicnScratch has a video here on how to make these cute bags.  Note:  you will need one sheet of 12 x 12 paper for each little bag.

Jackie chose a sunny yellow to highlight her koala

Michelle made hers into a little tag and then placed it on the card.  This paper is part of the Lullaby dsp set (p.187) #133695 $10.95.

Of course, you can always 'fussy cut' him out and put him anywhere on your card as Ginger has done.  I'm thinking of putting him in a whimsical tree.

Kind Koala

A little factoid about koalas.  No, they are not bears ... they are marsupials.  So the proper reference is actually just 'koala' not 'koala bear'.  Like ... who cares?  They're just so super cute!!!

I'd sure like to be your demonstrator!  I will be putting a link on this blog very soon, where you can just click on it to buy your product with me as your demonstrator.  Meanwhile, you can go to Stampinup.com and name me, Pat Knowlton, as your demonstrator and place your order that way.  Once I get the notification I will send you one of my thank you cards ... I'll put my message on a post-it-note so you can re-gift it)  =^..^=

I hope you've enjoyed your lesson on Koalas.  So precious, aren't they???

Work of Art

Hi Friends

Today I'm continuing to share images from some of the new stamp sets from Stampin' Up. These are sets that have either caught my eye right away ... you know, the old "I must have that" reaction ... or sets that I have been "iffy" about.  Today's feature was one of those 'iffy' ones but, in all honesty,  after seeing all the fabulous creations made from this set it is now on the "I must have that yesterday" list ... it's fabulous!!!  In a few simple words, just add color, and enjoy the ride.

That's enough chit chat... sit back and scroll through the samples.
