Hello There Friday Mashup

Hi Friends

Happy Monday ... I hope you're planning a fun week.  Today's card is for those occasions when you want to send someone a greeting to cheer their day but it's not their birthday or any other event.  So, the gals over at the Friday Mashup challenged us to do just that... make a "hello" card.  But, to mash it up, the challenge also includes adding sequins.  It's a fun challenge ... you should play along too.  It always takes me a while to "ponder" what I'm going to create so I end up looking a lots of my stamps to decide.   I haven't used this little House Mouse stamp in so long and he just popped out of the basket into my hands.  Love that!!

I wasn't quite sure where sequins were going to be added, but started by coloring the mouse and his little friend with Copics.  The base card is whisper white, the blue was some I had on hand from another card, the yellow layer is daffodil delight and the sequins are a million years old from my stash.  I used SU's marina mist chevron ribbon, a little strip of yellow and my sentiment is from SU's Happy Day.

My cards are sort of like Forrest Gump's box of chocolates... I never know what I'm going to get... but this time I am thrilled with the way this turned out (if I do say so myself).  I hope you like it too and thanks for the visit.

Be back soon - hope you are too!

Snow Happy Jingle Belles

Hi Ho Everyone!

Today's card is all about my favorite Christmas 'whatever'... a song, movie, book ... mine is about a dream.  Yep... a dream.  It is called a Storied Holiday over at Jingle Belles ... you should go check out their challenge and some of the wonderful samples.  Why is mine a dream?  Well, I am a native Southern Californian, and while I have many cherished memories at Christmas, none of them involve snow.  So... this would be my dream.  Sparkling white snow, blue birds chirping and a cute snowman right outside my door.  Then on Jan 1st it could all go away and it would be Spring... see, I read all about how most people feel about snow.  I used one of my favorite SU sets "Snow Much Fun" (recently retired) and colored the tall snowman with my Copics.

The base of my card is whisper white, the blue is from my stash (bashful blue???) and the red is cherry cobbler.  I used my glue pen and then added some dazzling diamonds for a little sparkle.  The sentiment 'snow happy' is by Impression Obsession.

The snowflake die cut at the base of the card is by Memory Box and is quite intricate.  I have a
BAILEY TIP.... when using a very detailed die, such as this, put waxed paper between the die cutting surface and your paper, then run it through your machine.  The little bits will come out so much easier.  You're welcome  :-).

I think that about covers it today... come back soon ... I have another challenge card in the 'works'.

Happy Stamping

Subtle Eclectic

Hi Friends

This morning I made this card using my now favorite Stampin' Up set "Kinda Eclectic".  It is so versatile and fun to use.  This card is for the challenge over at Tuesday Morning Sketches - you can see their fabulous inspiration samples here

This card is also for the Color Throwdown this week... which is Crumb Cake, Pink Pirouette, and Wisteria Wonder.  Here are some of their fabulous samples.

I stayed pretty close to the sketch ... it's such a nice one.  I used whisper white as my base since I knew there would be a lot of 'activity' on my card.  I ran the crumb cake through the Big Shot using my big dot ef and my new arrows ef.  After matting my rectangular piece with the pink pirouette I used my Nestabilities classic ovals large and classic ovals small to make the center image.

This set is so fun and, for the most part, I'm very happy with the results.  I stamped off the butterflies in wisteria and pink pirouette and then punched them out.  I love that they are sized perfectly for the punches.  A few classic pearls, the stamped sentiment, and 'twas ready to have its picture taken.

I hope you've enjoyed todays card... I'll be back soon ... hopefully tomorrow!  Please join me?  Thanks so much for stopping by... and leave a comment?  I always enjoy reading them.

Happy Stamping

Sparkling Merry Monday #114

Hi Friends

Today's card is all about "Sparkle, Shimmer or Shine" for the Merry Monday challenge this week.  You can see their post here.  This card really sparkles a lot in real life but after many, many photo attempts to show how sparkly it is, this is the best I could do.

I started by 'eyeballing' the placement and then used my oval nestabilities to cut the center oval.  Then I ran it through the Big Shot using the frame embossing folder (retired).  I used my Tombow multi to rub adhesive over the embossed area and sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds.

I then used my 'stampamajig' to place the sentiment on the base card, sprinkled it with gold embossing powder and heat set it.  I set all that aside and attacked the image from Bells and Boughs (retired).  I colored it with Copics and added three little pearls for my mistletoe touch.

I hope I didn't overwhelm you with photos ... you should see all the ones that didn't make it  :-).  The card is sitting next to me right now and it is twinkling soooo much ... sigh ... pity I couldn't capture that in the photos.  Oh well, I hope you've enjoyed today's card ... I like it's simple, classic style.  Come back soon... more to come!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by...

Sweet Christmas

Hi there

Todays card is for the Merry Monday #113 challenge to make a card using the colors of pink, silver and white.  You can see the other samples and entries here.  I chose a Flourishes Stamp set called Sweet Christmas.  When I first saw the challenge I thought 'elegant' snowflakes or ornaments but, in the final analysis, I chose these pretty candy canes.  I embossed the white background with a snowflake embossing folder and added touches of the silver glimmer paper and some pink cardstock which was also run through the Big Shot.  Here 'tis.....

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo black and colored with my Copics.  I only used a couple of pinks and 2 cool neutrals.  The ribbon is Offray and is from my stash.  I cut the image with my classic circle nestabilities and used the 'old' technique of sponging while the image was still in the die.  A little snowflake punched out for the bow and a small silver fern add a couple of finishing touches.

I'm really enjoying the Christmas Challenges plus the added benefit of having some cards already done when we get into crunch time in a few months.  I hope you've enjoyed my little feminine Christmas card... thanks for taking a look.

Proud as a Peacock

Hi Friends

Yes, I am proud as a peacock as my wonderful grandson, Tony, completes another successful year at I.U. (Indiana University).  So proud.  I made this card for him but followed the sketch and instructions at Tuesday Morning Sketches so it is being entered in their challenge this week.  You can see all the information here.  My card.............

I started with the cutest image of a peacock which is part of the Zoo-pendous set from There She Goes Clear Stamps.  I usually select my papers before I start coloring so I can get a better feel for what colors are close.  I used the Print Poetry paper stack from Stampin' Up (retired).  The base of the card is Very Vanilla although it looks white in the photo.  I had some help coloring today....

Uh huh, that's Bailey's tail ... "hey mommy, want to feather your coloring?"  Fortunately, Copic markers dry almost instantaneously so no worries.  I figured he knows he's my #1 assistant and was just doing his job.  =^..^=   I distracted him with some of his toys (always strewn all over my floor) and finished the peacock.

I hope this card brings a smile... it did for me!  Thanks for coming by to visit us... we'll be back tomorrow... hopefully.

The Rebels

Hi Friends

No card today but I have some pretty pictures instead.  This week I had lunch with a good friend and we went to South Coast Winery with our Canon Rebels in hand.  South Coast is a winery, yes, but it is mostly known as a resort and spa here in Temecula.  We had a great time and the weather was perfect for picture taking.  Now... before we get into this, I must say that I am a total novice at this and Sarah is quite good.  That being said, I think I'll let you decide which of the following photos are mine, and which are Sarah's.

I snagged this picture from South Coast's website

Here are Sarah's and my pictures - in no particular order...

I'll be back tomorrow with some more challenge cards ... I hope.  I have two more to do for this week, but we're off to lunch with more friends today (again... diet will have to go on pause).

I hope you've enjoyed your Temecula tour ... we feel very lucky to live here!!!

Have a great day,
