Blended Bloom

                                                         Blended Bloom

with Blendabilities.... and more challenges.  I really hadn't intended to do any more challenges this week, thinking I may have overdone it a bit.  But... when I saw the Friday Mashup (HERE) today I had to give it a try.  The challenge was to use stripes with or without a removable 'part'.  Since my SU order arrived yesterday, a day early, and I was anxious to try the blendabilities on the new Blended Bloom stamp, it was a done deal.  I also had visited the Deconstructed Sketch (HERE) and decided I could combine the two.

I used Jen's sketch (from Deconstructed Sketch) and selected my stripes from an old packet of DCWV, daffodil delight, whisper white, and basic black.  My ribbon is SU's gumball green (retiring).  I used a diagonal stripe embossing folder which sort of keeps the striped theme going.

I stamped the Blended Bloom twice on whisper white and colored with my cherry cobbler blendabilities. *They will be available to customers in a month or so* and I know you will like them.  They really saturate the image with color which is why I stamped off 2 images... but only colored one. I cut them both out and placed the uncolored one behind the colored one since the color showed through. note... no worries, this happens with all alcohol markers and, as long as you are aware of it saturation qualities, you can plan to layer your cards accordingly.  When assembling the card, I only added adhesive to the sides of the front element so the tag would slip in and out easily.

I hope you've enjoyed this card and this week's challenge entries.  It's been fun.  I'll be back soon with more samples... stay tuned!  Thanks for coming by to visit :-).  Leave me a comment or drop me a note at 2felinefurbabies@gmail.com ... I'd love to hear from you!

Color Throwdown 294

                                              Color Throwdown challenge 294

Yay... another challenge card.

It's all about the colors and they were to use strawberry slush, coastal cabana, and sahara sand.  Goodie... I have those colors.  So this morning I decided I wanted to use splashes of color and dug out my Gorgeous Grunge and Off the Grid and started stamping.  I cased this card from my 'crazy card club' member and fellow conventioneer (2013) Lynette Bredow.  Thanks for the awesome inspiration, Lynette :-)  Off the Grid was stamped last and done in versamark and then, using gold embossing powder, I heat embossed it.  It shows up more clearly in the second photo.

I hope I've given you some inspiration this week to "get out there" and play in some of the challenges.  If you are interested, most of them are listed on this blog along the right sidebar.

Have a great weekend and happy stamping!!!

Mojo Monday 347

Mojo Monday Tall and Skinny card

I made this card for Verve's Mojo Monday challenge - this week it is Tall & Skinny. Anyone can participate... check it out HERE... it's fun.  I used to play in the challenges frequently and can't quite remember why I stopped ... brain drain?  It feels good to be back playing - hope I keep it up this time (!)

This challenge is open to any type of papers and any brand of stamps - just follow (or be inspired by) the sketch.

Here is Julee's sketch ...

and here is my take on it.  I hope you like it.

I knew I wanted to use a favorite, but not recently used, Verve stamp set called"Love's Flower".  When I was fishing around for designer paper to use, I came across this Stampin' Up packet called "Print Poetry".  When did I get this pack?  And why haven't I used it?  Good grief.... sigh... it's retired now.  It's sooooo pretty and I love it.  I stamped the flower 2 times and colored both with my copics.  I then cut one out so I could do some layering....

This was a fun card to make.  I hope you like it too.  I'll have another soon - I'm enjoying making cards for challenges - it stretches me.  Well, not to become tall & skinny (unfortunately) ... but creatively!!!

Thanks for stopping by and hope you come back soon!

Merry Monday

                                                         Christmas Treats

Hi friends...

Yesterday I decided it was time for me to take the plunge and enter some of my favorite weekly challenges.  I really like the Merry Monday Challenge!  Two reasons:  One... it gives me a chance to break from the Spring and Summer motifs and Two... I get a little head start on Christmas cards.  Oh, and this week, Debbie Henderson is the hostess and she chose to challenge us to make a Christmas card where food is involved.  Well, Ok, so this week, that's 3 reasons :-).  If you'd like to play too, click on this link HERE
to check it out.  It's fun!!!

I knew immediately what I wanted to do.  I've had this yummy stamp from Impression Obsession for several years and it hadn't seen ink in a long time.  It is called "IO Candy Jars".  I stamped it on whisper white with memento tuxedo black and pulled out the copics.  I would have used the new SU blendabilities but I don't have them yet.  The ribbon is from my stash - I thought it fit the card perfectly.  Other than cutting and coloring, I used dots ef and an edge punch to spiffy it up a little.  The sentiment is from Inky Antics called "Penguin Christmas".

I hope you've enjoyed the little break from all the flowers - but, fear not, more flowers are coming your way!!!

Have a Very Merry Wednesday

Side Step card

                                                 Ramp up the 'WOW' factor

Hi Stampers!

I hope you've enjoyed your 3 day holiday and are now ready to start creating new pretties.  The samples are from Pinterest but I've made them and they're fun!  If you've never tried a "SIDE STEP CARD" then you've come to the right place.  These are a blast to make.  The basic card base is quite simple ... see step by step below ... and I know you'll love decorating it.

So... let's get started ...

1/11/2012; Barbara Joyce at 'Inky Fun!' blog; Snow Much Fun Side Step Card

Begin with a piece of cardstock cut at 8 1/2 x 5 1/2

    1. Step 1

Line up the short side of the cardstock at 3" in a paper cutter

      1. Start at 1" and cut all the way to 6 1/2.  You are basically making a slit in your cardstock.

    1. Step 2

Score the 2 1/2" wide section of the card at 4 1/4".
    2. Step 3

      Score the 3" wide section at 1", 2", 3 1/4", 4 1/2" and 6 1/2".
    3. Step 4

Fold the score line at 4 1/4" down.
    4. Step 5

Fold the first score line on the right hand side of the card down (mountain fold),
    5. fold the second fold up (valley fold).
    6. Step 6

Continue to fold the score lines mountain valley style.
    7. Step 7

Fold the last score line down to finish the card base.

    Decorate ... decorate ... decorate...!

    Memorial Day tribute

                                                               ALWAYS REMEMBER

    Memorial Day 2014

Many of us think of Memorial Day as a federal holiday where most people have a day off to barbeque, go to the beach or travel, but in fact there’s a great deal of historical significance attached to the day.
Celebrated annually in May, Memorial Day is an occasion for remembering those who died while serving their country in the United States armed forces. It’s not to be confused with Veteran’s Day, an annual holiday in November that honors everyone who served in the U.S. military.
Memorial Day was first observed in 1868, when it was called Decoration Day, a day set aside to honor the 600,000 U.S. men and women who died in the Civil War. Millions more have served since, and many have made the ultimate sacrifice.
“The cost of freedom is always high, but Americans have always paid it. And one path we shall never choose, and that is the path of surrender, or submission.” -John F. Kennedy

    Crazy Card Club June 2014

                                                                Crazy Card Club for June

    Hi Friends...

I hope you've had a nice weekend!  We are gearing up for a family get-together next weekend (Memorial Day + hubby's birthday + granddaughter Aly's birthday)... should be fun!  But how can it be almost June already? I'm too old for warp speed :-)

Meanwhile, I have been making my 'crazy card club' cards and here is what I've come up with.

The inspiration came from my friend and fellow demonstrator Vicki Burdick ... to see her card click HERE.

    Recipe...

Lattice BigZ die, little leaves sizzlit
    Dots embossing folder
Whisper white, night of navy, soft sky, dsp (retired)
Pansy punch, petite petals punch, itty bitty punch pack, 3/4" round punch (for sentiment tag)
Rhinetone from basic jewels colored with alcohol marker
    Sentiment from Wetlands

So many of the elements from this card are being retired (or are already).  But... can't wait to get started on some fresh new ideas from our new catalog!

Enjoy your day and thanks for stopping by today.
