American Hero project parade

Hi Everyone...

I hope you're having a glorious Wednesday... aka 'hump' day!  It's just gorgeous here with a nice breeze off the ocean and mild temperatures.  Our heat wave has disappeared... yay!

The project I want to present today is for Verve's project parade... make something with the stamp set "American Hero".  I love this set and have been following along viewing the samples by the Divas and they are spectacular!  Undaunted by all that talent (**grin**), I decided to use a 5 x 5 box that I've had for awhile for my little candy box.  I won't fib to you, this was a pretty lengthy project... perhaps because the 'idea center' in my brain has been opening late and closing early  ;-).  But, seriously, it was not complicated, just a little time consuming... lots of fun though.  Here we go with the pictures...

I started by covering my box with this cute star-patterned paper making sure to overlap it inside.  Even though I have shreddies and candy inside, I wanted it to be 'finished' looking.  I don't know the names of any of the papers I used... except for the vanilla and the red cs... they are both SU!.  Any combination of Americana colors would work well for this project.  I wanted to add a bunting look-alike to the edge so I used my die-namics large scallop die, cut out some red cs, and ran it through the paper crimper.  I used generic twine for the button ties and decided to set them off with a small punch to represent the rosettes.  I used a striped ribbon (Michael's) all around the upper edge of the lid.  I really liked the effect when that part was done.  Then the really, really fun part began... decorating the top of the box.  I've listed more particulars in the ingredients section below.

I hope you've enjoyed looking at this project... I had a lot of fun with it.  Be back soon... until then, have a super day!
